In its continuing efforts to meet the needs of its students,  the Department of Language Arts has instituted a required summer reading program.  Teachers will test students over the book in the fall.  Failure to read the book  could result in a drop of one letter grade during the first six weeks grading period. Students in the following classes must do summer reading:

9-1, 9-2 HD                                11-1, 11-2 HD

10-1, 10-2 HD                            11-1, 11-2 AP

Mark Haddon - A Curious Incident about the Dog in the Nighttime

This novel contains occasional profanity. Please see our department rationale. It is on the recommended book list for young adults.

Granted, students may find a great disparity between the relatively Greene's relatively short novel and Tolstoy's long one, but please keep in mind that Anna Karenina is a novel that many colleges - and AP tests - expect that students have read.
