    1. Grading Policy

Each student’s grade will be based on the four following areas.

    1. TESTS: A test will be given at the end of each unit. The test average will account for 40% of the six weeks grade.
    2. QUIZZES: Students should expect to have one quiz per week. Typically, a quiz will cover material from 2-3 lessons. The quiz average will account for 25 % of the six weeks grade.
    3. NOTEBOOK / HOMEWORK: Students will be required to keep a notebook that will contain all work done for this class. It will include homework, notes, quizzes etc. Notebooks will be graded 2-3 times each six weeks, and the average of all notebook and homework grades will account for 25% of the six weeks grade.
    4. PARTICIPATION: Will account for 10% of the six weeks grade. The student will start each grading period with the full 10%. However, students will lose participation points for each action that prevents the student or another student from participating. Some examples of participation penalties are listed below.
    1. Grading Scale: Grades will not be rounded off at any time.
    2. 90% - 100% = A

      80% - 89% = B

      70% - 79% = C

      60% - 69% = D

      BELOW 60% = F

    3. Homework Policy:
    4. Students should expect to have homework every day. All homework will be checked. It may be graded in class, collected and graded, or graded when notebooks are collected. Homework and notebook grades will be combined at the end of the six weeks.

Upon return to school after an absence, the student should immediately report to me and ask for a list of all work missed. All work must be completed by the given date. Work not completed on time will not be accepted. Students with unexcused absences will not be allowed to make up any quizzes or tests missed and will be given a grade of zero.

    7. Students are encouraged to come in for help when they need it. Students can

get passes to see me during their SRT period on Wednesdays, or can come in before school between 7:00 and 8:00 am on most days. Most tests and quizzes will be made up during SRT. If you need help at any time, let me know and we will set up a time to meet.
