:: Core 40 Testing - Core 40 testing will be conducted in computer labs next week.

:: You will find a red ribbon on your car today, SADD urges you to keep this on your car as a reminder to THINK AND DRIVE!
:: “Stranded on Pleasure Island”, the 2008 BHSS Prom will be held tomorrow [5/10] from 8 p.m. – Midnight. Tickets are $30 which includes Post-Prom. Tickets are on sale during lunch. You must purchase a ticket in advance. They will not be available at the door. There will be a check in table at prom, so you will be required to have a ticket to attend. Pick up a permission form in the main office if you are bringing a non-BHSS student.
:: The BHSS Choirs will present their annual Spring Concert on Friday, May 16th at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium. The concert will feature the nationally-honored Sounds of South, South Sensations, and Mixed Choir. Ticket are $3 for students and are available at the door.

:: Attention seniors: A list of senior students who owe for books not returned has been posted on the Main Office windows. Please check to see if your name is on this list. All Delinquent items MUST BE cleared by noon on May 21st.
:: Make a Difference in the World! CIEE is looking for host families to open their hearts, share their life and their country with high school international exchange students this fall 2008. This is your chance to learn about the culture of another country, learn a new language and even sample international cuisine. Students bring their own spending money and health insurance. ACTIVITIES

:: Wonderlab will be here on today [5/9] during lunches to answer any questions you might have regarding volunteering opportunities for the summer. WonderLab has volunteering opportunities all summer long to fit any schedule. Have fun, get work experience and give a boost to your college or job application. High school interns (entering grade 9 and up) help at week-long summer science camps. Applications are due May 31. Museum volunteers (grade 7 and up) make WonderLab “user friendly” for visitors of all ages. Register to attend the training on Thursday, May 8 or Thursday, June 5, from 5:30-7:30 pm at WonderLab. Special event volunteers (grade 7 and up) help kids of all ages enjoy the best of WonderLab’s science activities at Viva WonderLab! on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27.
:: The results of the 2008-2009 Student Council election are posted in the counseling office, check them out today! Our first meeting regarding next year will be Wednesday, May 14th during SRT in A325. The meeting is mandatory for all 2008-2009 members.
:: SENIORS: It’s time for the Senior Brunch! On Wednesday during SRT the Youth Summit students would like to treat you to a cookout. All you have to do is qualify to come. Stop by the table in the atrium during lunch and get your validation sticker placed on your ID card or your driver’s license. In order to attend you must be passing your current classes, have a 2.5 GPA on your last report card and no significant referrals from this year! Stop by the table today, Monday or Tuesday!
:: The Annual Foods Class picnic will be held Thursday, May 15. If you’ve been enrolled in a Foods Class this year and would like to attend, please see Mrs. Tresslar in B210.
:: Backpackers listen up! We’re heading out to the woods in 12 days on May 17th. Get it on your calendar and listen for future announcements.
:: Attention next year LOTS seniors: you need to stop by the Counseling Office to get your appointment time. Appointment times are posted outside the Counseling office door.
:: NAWBO Trailblazers Event - This year National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is hosting its 4th Annual Trailblazers event in downtown Indianapolis on May 20th, and we would like for students from various high schools and colleges to join us. If you are interested, please see Mr. Doyle by May 14th. We have two spots available.
:: Juniors and Seniors - Looking for a summer intern position that is designed to be a source of permanent work? Sunrise Greetings is looking for students with a 3.0 GPA and higher that would like to collaborate on a variety of activities. See the Scholarship Box for details.

ATHLETICS

:: Attention to those interested in Girls Cross Country this fall: there will be a mandatory meeting during the May 14th SRT period at 10:30 a.m. in the purple gym. Any freshmen, sophomores or veteran juniors are invited to attend.

COLLEGE

:: Juniors - would you like to have $2,500 toward college? There are few scholarships for you at this point but the Better Business Bureau is offering an essay contest that awards $2,500 to a college of your choice. Pick up applications for the BBB Student of Ethics Scholarship Box in the Counseling Office. The deadline is June 13th.
:: Are you a student with Indian/Pakistani background? Would you like to learn more about the languages and cultures of India/Pakistan? IU is offering a free program this summer for selected students. See the Scholarship Box in the Counseling Office for more details.
:: Seniors - as always we know you’re very busy but… this is a great time to remind yourself to check out scholarships in the Counseling Office. Remember, you can go to the scholarship webpage to see what’s currently available and then stop by the Counseling Office and pick up applications in the Scholarship Box!!

ACADEMICS

:: Summer school applications are available in the Guidance Office.
:: Having trouble in a class? Need a good place to study? Stop by the library on Monday and Thursday for free tutoring or a quiet place to study. English help is available Mondays and math help is available Thursdays.
